Night Passage – by Robert Parker

Posted on 09/07/2023 by Mark

This is the first book of the Jesse Stone series, and I was intrigued by the fact that Mike Lupica, a James Patterson coauthor and author on his front, has written some of the later Jesse Stone books. So, I decided to read the first book and, I really enjoyed it. I was kept in suspense for entire book and couldn’t wait to see what Jesse would do next.

So, Jesse Stone is the new Chief of Police in Paradise, Massachusetts. He got fired from the LAPD for drinking on the job and he had marital problems. He was drunk for the Paradise interview, and that seemed OK to them as they didn’t think he would be able to figure things out (solve a murder)!

I won’t spoil anything, but he has a fling with some ladies, he still drinks, and he thinks he is still in love with his ex-wife as they speak quite frequently on the phone throughout the book. He does his job very well and has a small inner circle of people he trusts at the department.
