For the second time in Niko’s life, he has a “recital” in a few weeks. Last year, it was on Veteran’s Day, and he was sick, but we made him to go and perform and then afterwards, Nina waited around and took him home while my parents and I had breakfast tacos (see, I have my priorities set correctly as food wins every time for me!). I need to be honest and tell you that when Nina first told me about that recital about two months prior, either I wasn’t listening or she never told me. So, since I am smart and even though, I don’t think she told me as I know I would’ve asked her a lot of questions, I will take the blame of not listening. Nina 1 and Mark 0 (see, I have my priorities set correctly!).
My listening skills have definitely improved, as I knew about this one. Niko has a speaking park. For that speaking part, I saw a note about it in is homework folder, and without even looking at his words, I was super excited and this my exchange with Nina:
Mark: Niko’s got a speaking part.
Nina: Really.
Mark: Yeah, really. Isn’t that awesome.
Nina: Really (laughing).
Mark: Yes, really
Niko: Really.
Nina: (laughing more).
I finally looked at his speaking part, and his line was: act surprised and say REALLY!“
Mark and Nina: (laughing together).
Niko: Really (laughing at me).
On another note, several weeks ago, Niko asked me this:
Niko: Dad, are you smart?
Dad: Yes.
Niko: Spell it.
Dad: S M A R T.
Niko: Nope, I T.
