Boundary Waters (Cork O’Connor, #2) – by William Kent Krueger

Posted on 02/26/202602/26/2026 by Mark

A few weeks ago, I read Iron Lake (the first book) and found myself a bit confused with all the characters involved and the overall plot. I did like Cork O’Connor as the main character (along with his flaws). Well, I read the second book, and Cork and company is growing on me.

Cork is a former sheriff, turned private citizen, but he has a lot of knowledge of the area as well as friendships.

In this one and probably most of the rest of the books, a lot of Native American verbiage, names, and really interesting folklore are mentioned. I enjoyed the adventures of Cork, Stormy, and Louis on the Boundary Waters. It was full of action, and I was kept in suspense throughout the book. Even when Jo (Cork’s wife) thought that Cork may have died in the Boundary Waters, I felt really sad for her (even though I knew the truth). Cork’s family (his wife, his three kids, and his sister in law) have a very strong foundation and I was glad that when the book concluded, Cork and Jo got back together (because he got injured, and needed some caretaking).
