I am definitely not used to the cold weather. All of my life, I lived in Texas and have had to deal with extreme heat for most of the year! Car and home A/C blasting super cold air all of the time. Now, we live in one of coldest cities in the country. Even going out for a few seconds in the evenings to drop trash in the garbage I am shivering and walking fast to be done. Don’t worry, when the snow falls, I will move the cans to the garage.
It’s so cold…
I had to buy warm UGG slippers. No more flip-flops for a little while!
I had to buy a warm blanket from the Vermont Country Store.
I had to buy long sleeve shirts from Threads4Thought, and a pair of athletic long sleeve shirts from Costco. I already had some Smartwool long sleeve shirts and a cashmere sweater from Lands End. Nina gave me another sweater from Banana Republic from her stash. I can’t even remember the last time I wore a short sleeve t-shirt.
I had to buy sweatpants from Amazon. I already had a lot, but I wear them all day, and I sleep in them. Not the same ones, I do change my clothes. I can’t even remember the last time I wore shorts.
I even moved most of my shorts and t-shirts to an undisclosed location in the house.
I had to buy warm socks from Sierra Trading Post, Costco, and even have some homemade extra ones that Nina made. I have an entire dresser drawer filled with all of them for all of us.
I had to buy a space heater for my home office. It’s feels colder in the basement. It’s only a few days old, but it sits on my desk and heats me up.
At Costco, we also got quite a few sets of 32 Degrees thermal underwear with matching tops. I had a pair prior, and Niko took them from me. Now, we have enough for both of us.
For some of my walks in the morning, it’s so cold, that I wear:
Gloves
Beanie
Winter jacket
Cashmere sweater
Long sleeve shirt
Thermal underwear
Sweatpants
Warm socks
We do have heat, and it’s on, but we don’t want to run it all day.
We do have a gas fireplace, and it works, but we haven’t turned it on yet.
We do have an outdoor fire-pit, but we haven’t used it yet.
We do want to buy an outdoor charcoal grill.
In case the power goes out, we have a lot of extra non perishable food items in the unfinished room in the basement.
I know this sounds like I am complaining, but it’s so much better than the heat. Plus, soon, it will snow and then I may complain!
Do I even dare to search Amazon for warm toilet seat covers?
