My 9th Birthday

Posted on 05/04/202505/04/2025 by Mark

As soon as my dad’s birthday was over , I told moo (that is what I call my mom and I have no idea why), that I wanted a vanilla cake with lemon frosting and strawberry filling. I wished I had watched her create it from scratch on Thursday, because if so, I would have been able to get my mouth and hands on a tiny piece.

I was off on Friday for my 9th birthday as it was a local holiday called Battle of Flowers. Moo finished the cake frosting and filling, and decorated, and I got to try a small piece. I also put some extra Niko decorations on it. My dad started the morning as he picked up ham and egg and bacon and egg breakfast tacos from a really good local Mexican restaurant that just opened a new one across the street from our neighborhood.

I didn’t have anything thought out to do, so when my parents suggested the Minecraft movie and pizza for dinner, I jumped at that. I like the buttered popcorn and can easily eat a huge bucket on my own, but my parents make me share with them. I can’t wait till I am older, when I don’t have to share with anybody. I also like the drink variety, but I always choose a lemonade flavor. The theater is cool as they have bowling, arcade games, and a cafe. I did bowling once for a prior birthday, and it was hard and I didn’t even finish my game. My dad had to bowl for us, so he got his moneys worth. The arcade has a claw grabber game, and I am a master at it (one time, I got three stuffed animals). The cafe is ok, but I have only tried it once with my dad.

Moo and I shared a large popcorn, and my dad had his own small popcorn, which I know he probably finished before we even got into the theater. But, I never saw or heard him ask for more. I also got a hot dog!

I did get to play some games before and after the movie, and this time, I didn’t win anything at the claw grabber machine.

On the way home, I asked for a drink at Dutch Bros, and we were literally right next to one, so I got a mango smoothie and moo got a zero sugar caramelizer drink (whatever that is), and dad got nothing but the bill!

When we arrived home, moo ordered Papa Johns. I like pineapple on pizza and so does moo. Dad doesn’t know what he is missing. Don’t worry, we also ordered a half cheese and sausage pizza for him.

After pizza, it was time for my cake, and let me say, it was the best cake I have ever had.

Now, you are probably asking, what was the best thing I did on Friday?

Well, it was actually smashing an old mouse on the back patio while my dad was watching me.

Yesterday, my dad (I don’t call him doo) went to Half Price Book to sell some of his old cd’s. I have never seen him bring them in the car so he could listen. While he was browsing books and waiting for his offer, I sent him a text: can you get Lin’s for lunch. Lin’s is that junk Chinese restaurant that he got last week for his birthday.

Dad…

I wasn’t planning on getting lunch out as wan’t even 11 am. But, when my son sends me a text requesting something, I try my best to make it happen. I was close to another Chinese restaurant, but they weren’t open yet. So, I ordered Lin’s for us. I got noodles for me and noodles for him. When I arrived home with hot food, he asked for egg rolls and egg drop soup! That wasn’t in the request, but I did give him some of my wonton soup as well as a few pieces of lemon chicken.

Today, my dad and I are going to the local grocery store so I can pick out something to bring to my class for my birthday.

Overall, my 9th birthday was awesome.
