Yesterday, we ventured to IKEA mainly to get Niko a new art desk. His current one was found abandoned near my parent’s house about a year ago, and they rescued it and made it nice for him. When we got that old one, there was a date written and even though I don’t remember it, I believe it was late 1970’s!
On the way home, it rained so hard that I could barely see in front of me. Thankfully, everyone on the highway was going extra slow, so I didn’t have to pull over (although, I did consider it and made sure if I did, I was on the right lane). On Friday afternoon, it rained super hard and there was a lightening strike in a nearby neighborhood and a house caught fire. Man, scary. I could see the smoke flames from the aftermath in our upstairs window which faces the backyard.
Well, a few weeks ago, I noticed that because of all the stuff in it, it was on the verge of collapsing and there were some screws holding it together on the bottom which came off as well (so, not safe).
So, we decided to get him a new one, and we showed him a few examples at IKEA and he liked them. He hasn’t been to IKEA in a long time, and I knew he would love the showroom for inspiration and the marketplace. Plus, he really wanted some Swedish meatballs. Give him a furniture store, and he is in heaven! Last week, we went to the La-z-Boy store, Floor & Decor store, and Factory Mattress store and he truly enjoyed sitting, playing, and touching everything.
In reality, he enjoyed the showroom for about 30 minutes, and then he was ready to be done. We stopped at the cafe, and he didn’t want Swedish meatballs (although, we did get some frozen ones near the checkout area). He did have fun pushing the cart of marketplace stuff and the cart with his new desk.
I did assemble one of the pieces yesterday, and he did some screwing.
I should be done putting it together this morning and I know it will be quicker, as I have charged an electric Black & Decker screw driver overnight, and then Niko can move his art stuff back.
