Catch As Catch Can: Building a Legacy by Finding Opportunity in Every Obstacle – by George Tinsley Sr

Posted on 07/11/2024 by Mark

I got this book from Netgalley, so I can read and review it before it’s published.

The only reason I selected this book was due to the cover image (he was dressed half in a basketball jersey and the other half was a business suit) and the description (he played college basketball where his Kentucky Wesleyan team won 3 NCAA Championships, he played for a few years in the ABA, and he was was an executive with Kentucky Fried Chicken Corporate).

So, yeah, I was intrigued. I enjoyed reading it, and he was very honest about his life growing up in Louisville, his adoptive family, his real family, and his wife and kids. Despite only playing a few in the ABA, his success in life came from KFCC and later his own companies where he was a franchisee.

I did the find the flow of the book a little out of whack as it could’ve been better organized. Also, unless I missed it in the book, I don’t remember him explaining how he first got started as a basketball player. Like, when he was 6 years old, did his mom buy him a basketball? Did he hear a game on the radio or see one on television? Did he find a court nearby and was mesmerized by the action?
