Yesterday, we celebrated my dad’s 80th birthday which was last Tuesday, my birthday which is this coming Tuesday, and Niko’s which is May 2. Niko and I are less than 80!
Normally, we would celebrate by going out to a restaurant, like we did for my mom’s in February. But, my dad had knee replacement surgery (he is good, and already at home and doing physical therapy). So, we celebrated at their house. They picked up some pizzas from a local restaurant and a huge cake from Costco.
As for my gifts, I don’t know what Nina got me, although I did see several Amazon deliveries with her name on it and she said don’t look at them, it’s your birthday gift! I can only guess by the numerous deductions in our bank account! For family members, I always ask for Amazon gift cards, as they have a very wide selection of stuff and I also have several books in my Want to Read pile that I can get there as well.
I told Nina that I am not a person who has to have the latest technological stuff, so don’t go down that road. The only thing I have in my Amazon wishlist besides books is a new television remote control and I put it on there in case Niko loses it or accidentally drops it in the toilet, like he did with an Apple Pencil!
I also told Niko that if wants to get me something, chocolate is the best thing. I even told him my favorites: junior mints, whoppers, nestle crunch, anything with Reeses, Oreo cookies, and Whatchamacallit.
On Thursday, and as I was folding laundry, I told Nina I wish I could find another pair of shorts like the ones I was holding as they are nice looking and super comfortable. I threw them at her and, a few clicks later on her iPad, she had found them. All I had to do was pick a color. Birthday gift, I don’t know.
I did give her another clue early last week when she asked me what I wanted. I replied, well, I do like the three flavor popcorn in a tin! She did get me chocolate popcorn for Christmas, but I didn’t like it. I should like it! I like the butter, cheese, and caramel flavors. I hope she did’t get that Doritos flavor she found!
As for me, I am off from work tomorrow and Tuesday. I am planning on taking Nina to lunch on Monday to the Salt Grass Steakhouse, as I have a gift certificate that I got from work. Tuesday, for my actual birthday, I may ask for Chinese takeout from a really good restaurant nearby. I, for sure, want to take a nap and hopefully, I can do that.
