Last Saturday and Sunday, and since it was finally cooler outside, Niko and I played soccer, splashed each other with the hose, and blew bubbles. We had a lot of fun and I enjoyed his laughs.
Even though it didn’t happen, I kept waiting for Niko to fall down in the grass while he was kicking the soccer ball. Although he did miss the ball several time, and that is always funny and sometimes the crocs he wears, they go flying like the ball! I told him that he would make a great goalie, as they need to be strong and need to be able kick and throw the ball far; all traits he has. One thing I have to protect when we play ball outside (and even inside) is my crotch! I am not at the point of ordering a cup from Amazon, as I use my eyes and if the ball comes near, I will move out of the way or use my hand for protection. One of the many balls we have got deflated, and he picked it up and threw it on the roof where it stayed for a few days.
When we played with hose, we both changed into our bathing suits, because I know and Niko knows we will both get soaking wet! And, I was fine with that. Hey, I even was prepared and had towels waiting for us when we got done. I like aiming the hose at him at the very start, and his squeals of excitement are so loud that I am quite confident our whole neighborhood can hear him. I think Niko likes changing the way the water flows through the hose better than actually getting wet. He even watered the fence. I hate turning the water off, but I always give him plenty of advance warning. Sometimes, he just likes to make mud puddles!
On Tuesday, he was so eager for Halloween and candy that he was dressed and ready to go by 5 pm! Oh, he wore diamond armor and had a pick axe from Minecraft. I wore a Bowser hat! And Nina was Nina, the most beautiful Nina in the world. Nina and I weren’t ready to leave yet, so we slowly got ourselves ready. About 45 minutes later, we were outside and Niko was admiring our neighbors decorations (they won the neighborhood decorating contest) – dude, they had skeletons everywhere and two of them were at least 10 feet tall. Last year, they truly did scare me as I wasn’t expecting it. We spent about an hour trick or treating, and Niko got some really good candy. I only took a few things from him, and I even told him to hide his candy from me because I like candy. He enjoyed being out, and sometimes he got to choose his candy; mostly Hersheys and Reeses!
Twice, we had a piece of tortilla food fight in the kitchen, and he loved that. Don’t worry, no food was harmed as I used a tiny piece of a tortilla and threw it at him. When he threw it back, I was worried he would get on top of the kitchen cabinets and it would stay there for a long time.
I always remind him that when he takes his clothes off, to please put them in the laundry area. Because for the majority of time, it goes anywhere but there. One time, a sock made it on top of the fan. Sometimes, he leaves his clothes on the staircase. A few days ago, he threw a sock on the floor which wasn’t the laundry room area. So, I picked it up and gently threw it at him and that got him going with giggles!
One thing about my new job is I am working 8am to 5pm (it was 4pm at my old job), so I don’t get as much time in the evenings with him. Despite that, I try to make sure we get a few minutes to play before bed and for the past few nights, we have been building with magnetic tiles. They fall down (let me rephrase that as Niko knocks my work down). And when that happens, he laughs so loud that the cat jumps and I lose my hearing. Sorry, what was I saying… On Friday, he was showing me his tile build which was a factory that turns marbles into chocolate, and his hair touched one tile, and the whole factory imploded – we both laughed! Unfortunately, we didn’t rebuild as we played with some lego gears. Now, with those, he likes building fidget gadgets and the one he built on Friday looked liked a pizza cutter, so I pleaded with him to cut me in half and see what my insides look like. I alway make interesting sound effects and he loves it. When I cut him open, he laughed so hard, I was actually tickling him.
He always does some really good pure laughs in bed before he goes to sleep, as he gets it from Nina and I as he is in the middle. He farts and laughs and burps! He does acrobatic moves getting into bed! He lays upside down and puts his head on the wrong pillow!
He watches funny YouTube videos, and I laugh at them and then he laughs not really knowing why he is laughing, but he is, because I am laughing, so he laughs. That happens more often.
