When Niko and I do something together I try my best to make it an “epic dad success,” but sometimes they turn into an “epic dad fail.” I will say, I have a lot more successes than failures!
So, with that being said, I do want to share something that was both a success and failure.
Did you know that The Home Depot has kids workshops where they can build something simple? Yeah, me neither.
Well, when I looked and saw that the kits were available for sale, I was interested, but unfortunately, the one I wanted (a toolbox) was sold out. But, luckily, I was able to give them my fake email address to notify me when it was available. No, I don’t actually have a fake email address! I just wanted to make sure you were paying attention.
When I got the notification that it was available, I purchased it along with some gorilla wood glue which it also suggested.
When it got delivered a few weeks ago, I opened it and, an it was an epic The Home Depot FAIL as no nails were included even though it said they came with it. Now, I am not a handy dandy daddy who has tools and nails just sitting in the garage.
Yeah, I was upset and complained to The Home Depot and they gave me a gift card so I can buy my own nails. Now, I also don’t enjoy going to The Home Depot for anything, so I was very glad I could buy them along with some sandpaper online and pick it up in the store last Sunday. A few hours later, Niko and I finally had everything we needed to build it and went outside to start. But, an epic dad FAIL as the nails I got were too short! CRAP! And, like I said, I don’t have a nail supply box. Although, I do have an assorted box of screws, but I couldn’t find the drill bit for our cheap electric screwdriver! And, I didn’t feel like using a manual screwdriver. CRAP! Luckily, Niko found a drill bit that fitted it and I found screws that were long enough. YAY! So, while I was screwing, Niko was painting.
Afterwards, and since we outside, we had a wonderful time playing with bubbles. He was doing some sweet looking karate moves as he was having fun popping them. I then, proceeded to see if I can catch a bubble on a stick, and I did, and then Niko was catching them. Hearing his loud laughs as priceless, and all the troubles with nails flew away with a bubble. When he was much younger, he loved bubbles so much that we went through a few automatic bubble machines.
See, an epic dad FAIL turned into an epic dad SUCCESS!!!!!
Right now, the toolbox is empty, so I am really interested to see what Niko will put in it.
