Happy 13th Anniversary

Posted on 10/08/202304/19/2025 by Mark

On Tuesday, Nina and I will celebrate our 13th anniversary, and I am so lucky to have her in my life. Every day, I tell her at least once, but sometimes multiple times, how much I love her.

We are planning on celebrating with food next Saturday, but after the “ring of fire” solar eclipse! See, we are easy. I did get her a few things of which I can’t say, as I know she reads my words.

About a week ago, I purchased a new side sleeping pillow, and it was fine for me. But I really wanted Nina to try it as well, as she struggles with sleep. Me, I have no issues with sleeping as I can fall asleep quickly and be asleep for the entire night. Nina is the opposite. So, one night, I placed the pillow on her side and told her, and she likes it as it did help sleep without any neck pain. I was like yay, it’s yours now! I must’ve said that with a sad face, so we will be very likely in a few days be getting another side pillow for me. Last night, Niko asked me for another pillow, and I was like, wait, you have two pillows at your head, two body pillows on one side of you, you have a pillow for your feet, you have a pillow on the other side, and you have a pillow on top of your back; where would you even put another pillow? His reply was it will go with my back pillow. Yeah, he likes pillows!

Back to the date of 10/10/2010, I like it as it’s always near or on Columbus Day or whatever it was changed to be politically correct (and with me working for a bank, I get a day off), it’s easy to remember how long we have been married, it’s binary, and I like numbers (I was a high school football statistician for many many many years).

So, tomorrow, I am getting my first paid holiday since before I resigned from Chase Bank. As a contract worker at MUFG Bank, Ltd. since last October, I didn’t get any paid days off (sick, vacation, and holiday), but last month, I was converted to a full-time employee at MUFG Bank, Ltd. and I finally got paid days off.

In addition to tomorrow, I also took a paid vacation day on Friday. I had planned it out several weeks prior and my goal was that after we dropped Niko off at school, I was going to get breakfast tacos and then afterwards, I was going to take a nap with no timer! And I am happy to announce that I achieved my goal (I napped from 9:03 am to 11:45 am), and it was magnificent. I picked Niko up from school on my own and afterwards, we went to a combined Dunkin Donut and Baskin Robins store and had ice cream and took home a half dozen donuts.
