WHAT DOES NINA not DO?
On Friday, Nina was going to have lunch with Niko at school, and when she arrived in the cafeteria to meet him, he was nowhere to be found. Fortunately, Niko’s classmates know us, and they were like, oh Niko’s mom, Niko is in the nurse’s office. He was complaining about his ear hurting. So, no lunch for Nina and Niko together, instead, they went to an urgent care clinic (the same one where Nina went a few weeks ago) and Niko was diagnosed with an ear infection. When they eventually arrived home, all Niko wanted to do was lean on Nina. Niko even shut his eyes for a few minutes. When we tucked him into bed that evening, Nina sat with him in his bedroom for a little while.
Niko was asleep before 6pm on Friday, and he woke up to a big THUNDER BOOM at midnight. It’s always me who gets up when Niko gets up. We peed, looked at the rain, and watched several bright lightning bolts. Before he went to back to sleep, he asked me if he could watch his iPad for an hour and then go back to sleep afterwards. I was like, absolutely not because I knew if I allowed that, he wouldn’t be able to go back to sleep. And I really didn’t want to be up and doing things at that time. He understood my explanation and I tucked him into bed. A few minutes later, he woke up again (I think the rain was bothering him), so I offered to sleep with him, and turn his music louder. I gathered my stuff, and we slept till 6am. It was funny because when we woke up, he forgot I was with him!
I would rather not have a sick child, but since he is, this was actually a good weekend to be sick and be home. A lot of rain was forecasted, and Nina was doing some last-minute stuff (mostly cooking for us) as she is having another surgery on Wednesday. Last weekend, she made soup for herself, and meat sauce and meatloaf for Niko and me. Our freezer is full!
Also, last weekend, my parents dropped of a recliner for her to use for the first few nights when she gets back from her surgery.
Just like her surgery a few weeks ago, she will try to be as self-sufficient as possible, and I will handle the Niko and the Riley. Niko has a half day at school on Wednesday, and I am taking a half day at work. I told Niko, after I pick him up, he can choose lunch wherever he wants and hopefully, we can Facetime Nina as she should be done by then.
I do know it’s Mother’s Day today, but in my house, every day is Mother’s Day. Normally, I would get her some fun things, but I am holding off until she gets better. I did enjoy our pedicure together last weekend, and she did tell me she wants a massage, but that will have to wait. I was going to get flowers and/or hanging plants, but it would be me taking care of them, and I am not good at that. I am good at mowing the lawn, and I got the backyard done on Friday morning before the rain came down. Nina was working upstairs and there is a window she can look out and see me. When I came upstairs to shower (as it wasn’t hot, but I was drenched with sweat), she was like, I saw you mowing the lawn and you were naked. Not naked, I explained, just no shirt! See, we like each other. I did get her something, but I am telling her it’s from Niko. It’s just some new wooden serving utensil’s that says mom on them. I was looking at some flowers, but they were made of Lego’s, and I just didn’t feel like putting them together on my own.
I did, on Saturday, pick up food for us as at a Pho restaurant, as she likes the spring rolls and pad thai. I was happy to do it as they also have plain Chinese food me and Niko; we both like lo-mein noodles. After we ate, it was a few minutes after 1pm, and Nina told me to take a nap, and I jumped at that opportunity. After I woke up, and since the sky was clear of rain, I mowed the front yard. I wasn’t shirtless though!
Nian told me today, that yesterday, was very pleasant. She got a cuddle bug in Niko leaning on her all day on the sofa. I just got a few cuddles and most of those happened on Saturday night as I was reading him a book before bed.
She does indeed do a lot for us boys (me, Niko, and Riley cat). Thank you for being you, and we all love you so much.
A few nights ago, I wanted some chocolate and I know Nina has a stash in the bedroom. When I opened the bedroom door, she was already sleeping. Oh no and to bad! Wait, I see something on my pillows. Could it be? Yes, it was peppermint patties.
Every week since Niko has started school, Nina makes a treat for him to include in his lunch.
I try my best and most of the time, I am successful, in doing the kitchen cleaning (I don’t care if she uses every plate, bowl, pot, and pan in the kitchen), laundry (I even fold and put away our clothes), and trash emptying. Just a few less things she has to not worry about.
That is all I have. Oh, Nina, three final things from us boys…
Riley says MEOW and I WANT TO EAT YOUR FEET!
Niko says MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
I say NINA, CAN YOU GRAB MY DRINK OVER THERE!
WE LOVE YOU AND HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL MOTHER’S DAY.
