Nina was sick a few days after Presidents Day with the flu and a cold. I hate seeing her not feeling well and did my best to cheer her up. Mostly, she was in the bedroom, and I was either downstairs working if it was a weekday or upstairs on the sofa with Niko if it was the weekend.
So, I took on the task of Mr. Do Everything and I think I did a good job. I didn’t get any complaints from the household, and I am glad. During those sicks days, Niko woke up super early several of those days, and when that happens, I am awake also.
It was a lot of work, but Niko and I had a great time hanging with each other and I got my year’s supply of “Dada, I Love You!”
I enjoyed driving him to school and picking him up from school. We laughed and talked about lots of things.
Last Saturday, and even though he woke up that day at 5 am, I was able to get him to get dressed so we could make a scene at CVS. I actually had a perfectly good reason to go there as I had a prescription that needed to be picked up. I knew that by taking Niko, snacks and drinks would be in our cart and I was absolutely cool with that. So, Niko got an orange juice, sour cream and onion chips, and macaroni and cheese. Nina wanted something, but didn’t have anything specific in mind, so we got her peppermint patties. As for me, I got a soda, cool ranch Doritos, and top ramen. Of course, Niko and I shared the top ramen for lunch when we got home, and the next day we shared the macaroni and cheese.
As we were about to eat dinner on Saturday, Niko heard the sounds of the Mr. Softee ice cream truck. I was quick to my wallet and shoes and ran out to stop it. I got mint chocolate chip ice cream, Niko got a chocolate shake, and Nina got nothing. Hey, I did ask her as I was galloping out of the house, and she clearly said no thanks. But then again, that no thanks could’ve been a large vanilla ice cream in a cup with sprinkles and Oreo cookies smothered in hot fudge and topped with cool whip and 12 cherries – as I wasn’t really paying attention to her. I was focused on ice cream for Niko and me, and also had to make sure Niko didn’t run out of the house behind me! We did offer Nina some of ours and she declined. Man, she must really be sick to turn down ice cream.
When we got our groceries delivered this past Friday, Nina surprised me with junior mints and chicken parmesan (I ate that for lunch on Friday). She was like you did a lot this week.
As for me, I don’t think I have the flu or a cold, but I definitely have something going on. Yesterday and today, I was able to take a short nap after breakfast as Nina is doing better.
As for Niko, he has just a cough.
