After 15 years of employment with the same company, I resigned in August. I was supposed to start a job as a Content Writer on that same day, but it fell through. I probably should’ve held off on resigning and used one more sick day at Chase, but I was excited and eager to start something new. As soon as I realized that the job wasn’t going to happen, I sulked for a few minutes and then got right back to the job search process.
I had experience in unclaimed property, content writing, and proofreading and I wanted a remote job. I am very fortunate that it took me less than two months to land a new job, and I actually had two offers in the same week for unclaimed property. One for MUFG Bank Ltd and the other was Warner Music Group. Of course, I took the job that paid more.
As for Niko, he started something new in August and that was first grade. He is doing awesome and goes back on Tuesday – after being off for three weeks. That first week, we took him out of school so we could go to Galveston for two nights and then afterwards, a cruise for five nights.
That cruise was originally booked in September of 2019 for a sailing date of October of 2020, but then Covid-19 happened, and the cruise was canceled. We did get a generous future cruise credit, and we booked another one in April of 2022 for a sailing date of December of 2022.
I published two Amazon eBooks in 2022: The Dad Gets Edumacated and The Statman Speaks. I do have another book idea floating around my brain, and it will be about my family. I just need to write down questions for my parents and my brother. I also have some stories that I wrote in high school and college, and I would like to edit and update them. None of them are Amazon eBook worthy (well, maybe one or two), so eventually and hopefully next year, I can publish them on www.thedadspeaks.com.
According to Goodreads, I read 86 books on my Kindle.
Well, that is all for 2022. Have a great New Years and be safe. See you next year!
Oh, I know how I can end the year. How about my favorite Niko pictures starting in January and ending in December.
