NaMaWriMo 11/16/2022

This morning, and about an hour before my Niko school alarm vibrated on my wrist, Niko came into our bedroom, and told us he wasn’t feeling well, and when he told me what ached, I made the decision of no school. Yep, sick again. It’s been really hard getting him to take medication, because he doesn’t like how they taste, and we have tried all available flavors. I got out bubblegum and grape medicine, and he actually took the grape medicine. He got three doses of it but couldn’t do the last one this evening.

I moved my work from office upstairs so I could be with him and Nina and moved the bedroom when I had to get on calls.

We were having a good day and then, around 3 pm till about 4:30 pm, Niko was regretted saying YES to something, and then halfway through us doing it, he should’ve said NO.

We have been urging him to cut his hair for several weeks, as every time we get him cleaned, he makes a really big deal about it. It’s like, just do the body and not the hair. He has such long hair, that it was getting in his face all the time when he ate and played (mostly with crayons, markers, paint, or anything else art related).

I am like, that is not how getting clean works and if you had shorter hair, it would be much easier to take care of. We didn’t want to force anything on him, so we kept asking him to consider cutting it.

Well, today, he agreed to cutting his hair, but halfway through, he was done. He was mad! He wanted his hair back and I was like, sure, tell me how I can get your hair back and his reply was tape! I thought about tape but mentioned that may hurt. Then, Niko said he would invent sticky hair – which I think is brilliant

I think he was mad because (1) it’s not completed, and also, he hasn’t had short hair in a while. I told him that he likes adorable, even though it’s not finished, (2) he wasn’t feeling well today, and (3) he was tired.

If you ask Nina and me, he is adorable, and it’s nice to see his face and the back of his neck again.

Who knows, maybe in a few days, he will start to enjoy the short hair and see how much quicker it takes to take care of it.
