My first week in my new job has been very good, and I have three great managers treating me nice and showing me the ropes of my job.
When I logged in on last Tuesday for the first time, I had over 100 emails! The earliest was from September 27th! Yeah, it was a bit overwhelming. But I was able to go through them fairly quickly to find access emails, emails from my managers, and scheduled calls.
When it comes to Outlook, I have always had a clean inbox as I move emails to folders for organization. I have already started that process, but I will probably redo it when I get a better grip on my daily responsibilities as I will also have a much better understanding of what they mean.
I am very glad to be logging in to work, rather than looking for a new job. My stress level has significantly decreased, and my happiness level has significantly increased. Plus, I am getting paid as my last paycheck was back on August 24th.
I have missed dropping Niko off in the mornings and picking him up in the afternoons. In the mornings, I still get to get him dressed, sit with him while he eats breakfast (if time permits, I eat also, otherwise, I eat a few minutes later), put his lunch bag in his Super Mario Bros backpack, and when he is ready to leave in the morning, I buckle him in the car. The afternoons are harder since I work till 5 pm and he gets home at 3 pm – I have to wait to be done before I can switch to dad mode. And by the time that happens, I feel rushed with him as bedtime is usually around 6:30 or 7 pm.
Next week, I think I can start going again in the morning to drop off him as we are usually home by 7:45 am and my start time is 8 am. And I will be getting out of work at 4 pm, so will only have to wait an hour. That will be nice.
As for Niko and school last week, he got a new chair and desk – is old ones were too small. His class had a pizza party complete with drinks and cupcakes as his teacher is leaving to work in the Administration area of another school. I haven’t met the new teacher yet, but she is very responsive to us on the school messaging app. She told us Niko is very nice and sweet. Lastly, last week was probably the first time since before school started that he was 100% healthy!
Yesterday, Niko and I went to our community playground. He not only wanted to play, but he also wanted to bring snacks so we could sit on a picnic table and eat – he and Nina packed junk snacks!
Talk about snacks, now that I have a job, in the upcoming weeks, we will make a Trader Joes and Costco run for snacks and food!
Well, that is all I have. Right now, Niko is playing Minecraft and I am writing. But when I am done, I am going to have him make me a room in Minecraft so I can read.
