Niko has had a cough for several weeks, and when it comes to medicine, it’s very hard to get him to take it no matter what the flavor is. We have a lot of variety to choose from. He expects medicine to taste good, and we are like nope.
On Sunday night right before bedtime, he took some bubblegum flavored cough medicine, and afterwards, I turned around to do something else for a second. In that span, he vomited his medicine and his dinner. I did gag when I smelled the vomit – it’s my own reflux!
I thought it was just a little bit, but it was actually a lot, and it was all over him, his hair, the bathtub, the bathroom floor, and the carpet just outside the bathroom. He already had the bathtub running to clean himself, but I switched it to the shower. After a few minutes, he was clean, and I had a huge load of laundry to get clean. Nina was busy in our bedroom trying to get an old app back on his iPad while I was running around like a crazy animal trying to take care of everything. I am glad, though, that I got the laundry cleaned and dried before our dryer died on Tuesday!
He only made it to one day of school on Monday, and we kept him home for the rest of the week. On Wednesday, we got confirmation from his doctor that it was RSV. After the appointment, we went a mile down the same road to get his chest x-rayed. That came out normal, and we are relieved for that.
He is doing much better now and will be back at school tomorrow. The prescription they gave him is pills, and he hasn’t learned to swallow them yet, so, we crush it up and put it in something extra delicious. So far, he is taking it without vomiting!
As for Nina and me, we are feeling alright!
