I had something else written that I was going to publish today about Niko’s closet and dresser, but I decided to scrap that one because I have something better to write about.
Oh, you really want to know about his closet and dresser. Well, here it is:
Niko used to have all of his clothes in his dresser, but now that 8-drawer dresser from IKEA is a holder of his footed pajamas which he doesn’t wear any more (so, I could probably move them out), extra blankets, a few pieces of clothing that he does wear, and lots of junk in drawers and also on top of it. In his closet, all of his long sleeve pants and long sleeve shirts are hung. He has a plastic shelf off 3 -drawers that houses his socks, underwear, and his Bowser Halloween costume from last year. He does help me put his clothes away in the closet, but I have to put them all on hangers. He is very specific as to how everything needs to be arranged.
Now, you’re probably asking, what is something better. Well, now I will tell you that story. But, before I start, let me dive into some history.
On April 30th, we adopted a 4-year-old female cat named Bluebell from the Animal Defense League. She was sick when we first got her, but meds helped, and she is fully recovered. We got her for Niko as he wanted a cat to play with, cuddle with, and sleep with. So far, none of that has happened with the two of them. Loud noises spook her in addition to fast movements. Did I mention Niko is 6, loud, and moves fast? Did I also mention that I am not 6, loud, and move fast sometimes? She does enjoy being petted and purrs loudly and she meows for her wet stinky cat food. When I feed her, I gag because it’s really smelly and gross. Just within the past few days, she has been sleeping on our bed, but does run away at bed movements. She does come back a few minutes later.
This past Friday, Nina and Niko visited a 4 -month-old male kitten named Riley at a foster home. And, yesterday, we adopted him! So, now we have two cats. This cat played with Niko for almost 90 minutes on Friday. I am hoping that Riley can help Bluebell be less scared and more playful. I think they will get along great as both are used to being other cats. I also think Riley will be a great partner in crime with Niko. They have already seen and smelled each other very briefly yesterday evening. Bluebell was eating Riley’s food and she also watched from the safety of the bathroom door while Riley was chilling.
Please tell me that I am not turning into a crazy cat man! I told Nina and Niko that two is my maximum!
Oh, one last thing and it’s not about cats; although, just as I am writing this, Bluebell smelled my popcorn bowl. Isn’t that adorable? Hmm, maybe I should stop posting clouds on Instagram and post cat photos. Wait, there are already a billion of them. Nevermind.
I am taking tomorrow, Tuesday, and Wednesday off from work as vacation. One of the benefits of my 15 years at Chase is 4 weeks of vacation. Those three days are also my days I have to be in the office. No plans for me, so anything Niko and I do will be spontaneous.
