On weekends, Niko and I will go out in the world and do something fun and amazing. Yesterday, I took him to San Antonio Plastic Bricks, which is a Lego store. We both like building Legos, and he often takes what I have built and makes it better and bigger. He filled up a quart sized Ziploc bag full of different pieces; they had two tables full of assorted Legos.
I was also telling him that if we did go there, that afterwards we can grab some lunch at Max and Louie’s NY Diner since it was down the street. He was excited and really wanted a buttered toasted bagel and I wanted Matzah Ball Soup!
Well, we didn’t end up going because he had to use the bathroom and he refused to use a public toilet! So, I drove us home and offered to go back out to the diner, but he wanted to stay in. I was sad but didn’t make a big deal of it and I even offered to go Sunday morning for breakfast. We would go first thing as soon as we wake up, and my parents may even join us. I did tell Nina that I will order whatever she wants and bring it home! Like bagels and coffee!
I made sure to have clothes out just in case for me before I went to bed on Saturday night, and I already washed and dried his clothes. He will only wear one specific long sleeve shirt and pants to go out in the world. Yeah, I try to get him to wear something else and it always backfires on me.
He does know that when he starts school next month, he will not be able to wear that outfit every day. He has several options to choose. I also hope that once he sees his classmates wearing t-shirts and shorts, he will join in on that.
So, this morning and even though he woke up early, he was all in for the diner for breakfast. We left around 7:20 am and arrived at 8:00 am and Niko was amazed at how empty the streets were and kept asking me what is opened now? We met my dad there since my mom wasn’t feeling well.
I won’t bore you with food details. Just kidding!
Niko had orange juice, a buttered toasted bagel, and French toast with fruit. Niko dunked his French toast in syrup and ate mostly everything. I just had a few samples of his.
I had salami and eggs with a buttered toasted bagel. Niko enjoyed my salami and the home-fries that came with it.
It was delicious and he is looking forward to getting lunch at the diner next time. We brought home a dozen bagels for us and a coffee for Nina.
