On Friday, Niko asked me if there was a party store and without any help from Nina, Siri, and Alexa, I screamed YES, and the store is called PARTY CITY. I showed Niko some of the Super Mario Brothers supplies they have, and he wanted them all.
So, on Saturday, we went to Party City, which is less than 5 miles from our house, and I told him to grab a shopping cart and have fun! Just seeing him go up and down the aisles and looking at everything was a blast for me. It’s a store he has never been to. Last week, Nina took him to Lazy Boy and Star Furniture. They all good places to take him as they are big and air conditioned. Last Saturday, I took Niko to Bass Pro Shops – we haven’t been there since before the pandemic, and he enjoyed climbing in the boats.
Of course, at Party City, he picked out some cardboard Super Mario Brothers centerpieces. We also got water balloons, bubbles, a water gun, and two small plastic rackets to play catch with.
After Party City, I drove through a local Mexican fast-food restaurant because I was hungry. Niko, at that moment, didn’t want anything. But as soon as I got to the window to pay, Niko wanted a cheese quesadilla. When we arrived home to eat, he wanted to try one of my chicken fajita tacos and since he liked, I had to give it to him. I was sad, but I still had one left and was able to make a third one for myself.
We are very fortunate that almost every Saturday night, a Mister Softee truck drives around our neighborhood. We haven’t had it for a long while because either we have already gotten a shake elsewhere or they come when are putting Niko to bed. But yesterday, I promised Niko that we will get Mister Softee, so we won’t be getting shakes elsewhere on our Saturday adventures. We were tracking the truck for a few hours and while we were eating dinner, Niko heard it and both of us flew out the door and flagged him down. Shakes for Niko and I and a chocolate and vanilla ice cream cone with sprinkles for Nina.
