APPLE Watch Alarms

Posted on 06/05/202204/19/2025 by Mark

I no longer have an Apple Watch alarm set for after Midnight to wake Niko up for a quick pee. I only have two alarms and they are for work; one is Monday through Wednesday at 5:45 am and the other one Thursday and Friday at 7:00 am. I don’t use the snooze feature because the sound I use is actually a vibration and it wakes me up immediately, but most of the time I am awake a few minutes before it goes off. I work at the physical office three days a week and at home two days a week.

On the weekends or days off during the week, I don’t wear it as I get up when Niko gets up and it doesn’t matter if it’s for a pee or for good. I have always done this as this allows Nina to get some extra sleep.

My birthday was April 23rd, a Saturday, and I took Thursday and Friday off to get some extra time off. And that is when I turned the Niko pee alarm off. I told him in advance of what was going to happen and when and when you need me, call me. Not literally call me on Facetime, although that would be funny. He screams DAD and then DAD again. I always tell him that I can hear him the first time as it takes a few seconds for me to wake up. I do it mainly because I can easily go back to bed whereas Nina can’t. Niko can get up whenever he has the pee urge by himself, but he can’t gather his blankets and tuck himself back in – that is my job.

I like it because if he is able to sleep through the night which has happened several times, I get some good uninterrupted sleep.

I haven’t always been a watch wearer as my Apple Watch was purchased in February of 2019. Was I jealous that Nina had one prior? Probably a little bit. It was mainly used for alarms for me and to quickly check and send text messages to Nina while I was at work. I also used it to keep track of my walks, but I haven’t done that for a while. When Niko and I are out in the world, I can glance quickly to check time or see if Nina is texting me. You know, it’s actually been very useful, and I almost feel naked when I don’t wear it. When it stops working, will I get a new one? Most definitely a yes, but probably won’t be the latest model available. I am not going to look at trading it in right now – just curious! Just $50, come on Apple; well, it is an older one (the Apple Watch Series 3). Are they at 10 yet?

The last time I wore a watch was 29 years ago when I was 16 years old and traveled to Israel for the summer with the sleep away camp that I attended for many years. It was a Swatch, and I probably wore it a few times. I still have it, but it definitely needs a new band and battery. I also had a small multi-colored flashlight for that trip and either Niko broke it or it’s hiding somewhere safe as I haven’t seen it lately.
