Lately, Niko has been watching Captain Underpants and, he actually pays attention to what is happening. He laughs, because it’s very silly. I don’t mind him watching as it’s better than playing video games and watching his iPad and we watch together. This morning, he had Captain Underpants playing on his iPad and the television.
He takes the remote and knows to work it perfectly. I do have to remind him often that the remotes are not toys as he likes to hold it and take the battery cover off.
On Friday, he asked for some Captain Underpants books, and I was like of course. I will be happy to buy him books any day of the year but would prefer to get them at Half Price Books rather than at Barnes and Noble.
So, on Saturday and after we made a quick stop at the post office to drop off mine and Nina’s passports for renewal, we went to Half Price Books. The location we went to also happens to be super close to my parents’ house and they met us there. I led him to the children’s section and unbeknownst to me, there was small section dedicated to Captain Underpants. Niko picked 6 books quickly and when we checked out, it was like $25! Perfect! Afterwards, the four of us had a pizza at a nearby restaurant.
Niko has such a great memory that he remembered seeing an ice cream store next to the post office and wanted some. I was like, I didn’t see it and also, we are going home a different way, but we can stop somewhere else for ice cream. Yeah, cool dad here! We drove through Freddys for a chocolate shake with sprinkles, whip cream, and a cherry for him, two small fries for each of us (yes, I know we just had pizza), and a large root beer for me.
I was very tempted to get myself a shake as well, but I said nope. I am not as young as I used to be as cheese and milk don’t agree with me. Yeah, I had two slices of pizza earlier for lunch and I regret it – even though it was yummy. But it’s not like having a few slices of cheese pizza will make me start eating cheese again. I actually don’t miss cheese. Not even tempting at home as Niko pours parmesan cheese on pasta and we have lots of American cheese in the fridge. I also don’t miss having a bowl of cereal or a glass of chocolate milk.
If only I can cut the butter out of my food, then that would be even better for me. I do make my eggs in the morning without butter as I use pam. They come out pretty good and I can’t taste the difference. It’s the butter in pasta and other cooked items that taunt me.
