The Best Things

Posted on 03/20/202204/19/2025 by Mark

Since February 8th, I have been in the office on Monday’s, Tuesday’s, and Wednesdays and home on Thursday’s and Friday’s. A lot of preparation has to happen on the days before I go to the office as I just want to get up, freshen up, get dressed, and grab my snacks and drinks without having to think about anything.

The best thing happens when I am at work and I get a lot of texts with images of Niko throughout the day, and it always make me smile and sometimes even laugh out loud.

The best thing happens again as soon as I open the door from the garage to the house on those in office days. And that is Niko’s footsteps running across the 2nd floor, stepping loudly on the staircase, and then I hear his voice…HEY DAD, GUESS WHAT I DID TODAY IN MINECRAFT OR DID YOU BRING ME ANYTHING FROM WORK!

I miss him and Nina, but Niko really misses me as once we are finally upstairs, all he wants to do is wrestle and play with me. I happily oblige even though I am tired. I still get to have dinner with him and get him cleaned – we allow Nina some alone time since she has been with him all day.

Hi, I am Mark. I started writing in 2011 about high school football, daddy blogging since 2015, and reviewing books since 2023. My writing style is unique, my sense of humor is a little crazy, and I’m not embarrassed to share any of it. You can email me at thedadspeaks@icloud.com.
