Done Schooling!

Posted on 03/02/202104/19/2025 by Mark

Yesterday, I completed my final course for my Master of Business Administration (MBA); the Capstone, at Western Governors University. It was three written papers (one of them included a video presentation) and a business simulation. It took me a total of 58 hours and 42 days to do it. Yes, I kept track of it.

After I submitted each task, I kept checking the status of the evaluation like a madman to see if I passed and when I finally saw that for the final task, I was relieved and very happy. I have to admit, I let out a very loud happy scream! Later that afternoon, I had my normal scheduled call with my program mentor and she was also happy for me and told me she really enjoyed getting to know me throughout my three terms (I started on 11/1/2019 and each term was 6 months). She submitted the graduate application and my diploma should be arriving in about 2 weeks! She called me every Monday to check up on me. That reminds me, I need to email her some pictures of me, Niko, and Nina! Because she also got to know them as well.

So, now, I have an MBA. I am glad it’s finished because it was a lot of work in the evenings that I put into it, but I know it will help me to achieve bigger and better things. Next Sunday, I will share a much longer blog about my overall WGU experience.

My brain needs a little bit of time off and when my brain comes back on, I will be looking forward to doing other things in the evenings. Right now, I am just reading and writing. I haven’t looked at my list of things I want to do after school ends.

To celebrate this accomplishment, Niko and I had Chinese food and shakes from two different places. If a Chinese restaurant had shakes, I don’t know if I would even have the guts to try it.

We actually celebrated on Sunday because I knew eventually my final task would pass (it was just a matter of when it would pass). I didn’t want to wait a week!
