Normally, I don’t write about the books I have read, but since my wife and my son have no interest in me preaching to them about this particular book, I figured, I can just write about it.
So, the book is called THREE RING CIRCUS by Jeff Pearlman and it’s not about politics. It’s about the Los Angeles Lakers from 1996 to 2004 and the three ring circus refers to Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, and Phil Jackson. It provides a lot of great insight to how the roster of players came to be LA Lakers and how Phil Jackson came to be the head coach.
Now, let me tell you a quick disclaimer…
I was a fan of the San Antonio Spurs and have been since the 90’s, but I was also very familiar with other teams and players, so for me, I really enjoyed learning about the brief history of another franchise. Since my son was born in 2016, I haven’t paid any attention to sports, especially the Spurs. Hopefully, I can get back to being a sports fan soon!
As soon as I finished this book, I read a book called LAKER GIRL by Jeannie Buss (I skipped the parts where she wrote about the games during a particular season, I just wanted to know how she got to where she is). After that book by Jeannie Buss, I read ELEVEN RINGS: The Soul of Success by Phil Jackson (I skipped the parts where he talked about spirituality and philosophy stuff; I really don’t care about that).
Yeah, as you can see, I like reading about people so my genre is biographies; sports, entertainment, and humor. But, I also have enjoyed reading fiction books by Dave Barry, Carl Hiaasen, and Anthony Bourdain. Right now, I am reading Basket Case by Carl Hiaasen.
