CVS

Posted on 09/27/202004/19/2025 by Mark

On October 10th, Nina and I will be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary. We had a cruise scheduled for that week, but Royal Caribbean canceled it. I am a bit disappointed, but also relieved at the same time. I really didn’t want to be on one of the first cruises since everything shut down. We will sail next year when it’s safer for everyone.

I already have a few things ordered for Nina and I won’t tell you anything more since she reads this. But, I did tell Niko that we need to make a CVS run for an anniversary card on Saturday and while we are there, I told him he can pick any one thing for himself; whether it be food or a toy. I also told him that we both have to wear masks and we can only touch what we are going to buy. Even though I have been out in the world to a few places since everything started reopening with a mask, this will be our first time together at a store since everything reopened.

And now I get to tell you how it all went…

Don’t worry, I will make it short and sweet since I can’t spend all day and all night writing about every single detail. I need to make use of any extra time I can get to study for an exam tonight. When I am not being a husband, a father, a full time employee, and a writer, I am pursuing my MBA at Western Governors University. Once I complete this current course, I will have two courses and my capstone remaining. I am planning on being finished before my birthday next April; hopefully earlier.

Niko wore a mask that matched his shirt (thanks to primary.com) and I wore a homemade mask that Nina made that didn’t match my clothes. We sanitized our hands before and after. I did have to steer Niko to the proper aisles and after a few trips down the food and toy aisles, he got a small thing of vanilla cream Oreo cookies and a small toy forklift. I got a small bag of cool ranch Doritos and a cream soda and yes, I even got a funny anniversary card for Nina. Niko did awesome and when we got back in the car, I told him how proud I am of him. After all that walking in the store, he wanted to go home and not play at our school playground. But, I convinced him to go on a very short drive and then we can come home. I did make a quick stop at a new high school being built to get pictures of it (we stayed in the car) and then afterwards, we came home. A few hours after we were home, Niko wanted Chinese noodles and a shake, so we ventured out again; this time, though, we stayed in the car as we ordered online for the noodles and drove through Sonic next door.

This morning, Niko and I had breakfast tacos at the school in our neighborhood. We walked a little bit around the school in between bites.

Now, we are home and it’s only 10:30 am. Nina is cooking in the kitchen downstairs (smells good), Niko is naked and watching his iPad and playing with this forklift I purchased yesterday on the upstairs sofa, and I have my fully charged iPad Mini to study for my exam tonight on the upstairs sofa next to Niko. I am not naked!
