On Wednesday, Nina has surgery scheduled and I will be off for two weeks to take care of her and Niko. Nina keeps telling me she really wants to be self sufficient and I think it will happen. She has a stash of things she needs and our job (Niko and I) is to make sure she has food and drinks.
As far as my schooling is going while I am off, I just need to focus on writing which comes very easy for me. I have a goal to submit my writing task by next Monday, February 3rd. Right now, I am about half way done with it.
Niko is aware of what will be happening as we keep telling him. During this time of recovery for Nina, we may try no diapers for Niko; which basically means we will go in twice a night instead of once. He is doing really good with once a night as I have been seeing a lot of dry diapers and that is a good thing. I wish he was mature enough to be able to pee on his own throughout the night and go back to sleep, but he isn’t. Getting him at 3 am is hard for me. I sleep well before this, but not quite as well afterwards; mainly because my work alarm is set for 5:45 am. I want more sleep! Sometimes when my alarms buzz on my Apple Watch, I look at the time to see what I need to do and turn it off. I doze back for a few minutes before actually getting up to either get Niko or get ready for work.
Wednesday will be a weird day for Niko; just like the day we moved where we dropped him off at my parents house all day. But, the difference is, my parents will come to us and I am planning on coming home in the late morning and going back to pick Nina up later in the day when she is ready. I know being with Niko all day alone is a lot of work and my parents aren’t used to it. I already told them that the 4 of us can do lunch somewhere. Maybe I should change the name of my website to THE DAD EATS! As Niko just said, YUMMY; for a bowl of cereal with a banana.
I have a long list of things that Niko and I can do inside and outside the house and I am looking forward toward it. Some of them are free and some will cost money, but it doesn’t matter. One thing that I really want to do is for us to visit the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo; basically it’s my excuse to eat bad fried foods and for Niko’s excuse to see animals and eat bad fried foods with me. And, probably will have to spend some money on the merry-go-round!
Whenever we venture out, I make it my duty to make sure we eat and drink. He is a really fun partner and can hold down a conversation no matter where we are. Most of the time, I let him choose where we dine. And, since he doesn’t nap anymore, we can slowly have our adventure and don’t need to rush home.
Oh, I also purchased a car-seat for my car, but I actually gave the new one to Nina and I installed the old one in my car. I wanted one for my car because it’s a nice change of pace since we always take Nina’s car; it’s bigger than mine. In my car, Niko will be much more closer to me. The one disadvantage of my car is I won’t be able to fit the jogging stroller in it, but no worries as we have a smaller stroller that fits and Niko still fits in it. I only had to tell Niko 4,000 times to stop kicking my chair yesterday when we went to Bass Pro Shops. Yes, I took him to Bass Pro Shops; his favorite part was the grills as opened and closed them about 2,000 times each. He also got fudge and test drove several boats.
While Niko and I were getting the old car-seat out of Nina’s car, we also vacuumed and took everything out to get cleaned and sorted (mostly toys and clothes). Niko enjoyed playing in her car with the electric seats!
