On Friday, November 1st, as I was preparing Niko for bed, he looked at me with his beautiful blue eyes and opened his small baby mouth. The words that came out were, DAD, I WANT TO GO OUT SOMEWHERE TONIGHT. It was 6:15 in the evening and too late to go anywhere, I answered him. Then, he screamed and cried about it for a few minutes. I finally PROMISED we could go somewhere in the evening in a few days.
Well, that few days ended up being 22 days later because Nina had surgery the next day and then Niko got sick the following week. I wasn’t going to take a sick and tired baby out in the evening.
So, our date began yesterday morning as Niko and took a walk to our neighborhood playground; I walked and he drove his red plasma truck. After about an hour, we came home and I took him out to a Nestle Toll House Cafe for cookies and then to HuHot Mongolian Grill for lunch. Now, let me tell you, Niko and I are picky eaters but HuHot was easy for us. We both had noodles dishes; his had shrimp and baby corn and mine had beef, chicken, pork, and bean sprouts. It was actually good and I will definitely go back.
After lunch, we came home and relaxed. Then, around 4:30, the three of us went to La Cantera, an outdoor upscale shopping mall, to enjoy the sights and sounds. Unfortunately, once the lights went on, it wasn’t what I was expecting. I was expecting Christmas lights. Oh well! Next weekend, we will go to Sea World in the evening and they should have Christmas lights. And, in December, I want to take Niko to the Riverwalk in Downtown San Antonio in the evening.
