Two Day Anniversary Celebration

Posted on 10/13/201904/19/2025 by Mark

Last Thursday, Nina and I celebrated our 9th anniversary; ALONE WITH NO CHILD, by buying myself a belt at Marshall’s, dropping off a package for Nina at the UPS store, depositing money at our bank, and eating at Salt Grass. The icing on the cake was an impulse stop at CVS for Blue Bell Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream.

In case you’re wondering, Nina got me a WGU shirt, a WGU bottle, notepads, pens, and a portfolio. I guess I can finally stop using my 1999 San Antonio Spurs portfolio that is formed from a basketball. Hey, it’s all useful things as I start my MBA next month at WGU. Even Niko got a WGU sweatshirt. I got her an electric blanket; Niko broker her old one. And, I looked at her Amazon wishlist and got her a roasting pan. Both have already been used!

On Friday, the three of us went to Sea World. The weather was cold, windy, and a little bit of rain. Nina’s dad and stepmom got us season tickets for our anniversary. Now, we can go whenever we feel like it; it’s 15 minutes from our house! Niko did awesome as the majority of time, he was hanging in his stroller. We stayed at Sea World for almost 2 hours and afterwards, we went to an upscale outdoor shopping mall called La Cantera. Niko has always enjoyed La Cantera as there is so much stuff there; we got lunch at Kona Grill, shared cookies at Marble Slab, and got him to try one shoe on at Finish Line. When we finally got home after being out of the house for almost 5 hours, Niko and I went to his room to relax while Nina went to her office to work. I wasn’t planning on getting him to nap, but I could tell he was really tired. So, I made the family decision to try and get him to nap. Just so you know, for the past few weeks, nap have been hit or miss! Well, I got him dressed in his footed pajamas, tucked his stuffed animals in, and tucked him in with 4 blankets. I felt pretty confident that he would nap and as I was watching him on the baby monitor, my confidence was sky high that I texted Nina to stop working and come and lay down down with me in the bedroom. Niko slept for about 90 minutes, I slept for about an hour, and Nina didn’t sleep, but she relaxed in the bedroom and she needed it. We did a lot of walking on Friday.
