The Healthy Dad

Posted on 09/15/201904/19/2025 by Mark

Hi, my name is Mark and I want to lose 20 pounds. I have been eating unhealthy for several years. I am by no means overweight, but I do enjoy food; especially pasta, rice, and bread. And, definitely anything sweet!

The hardest thing for me will be eating healthier. I tend to snack a lot at work and dinner in the evenings, I eat with Niko and always tend to share everything on our menu for that particular day. I am planning on cutting out pasta and bread for a few weeks; then, once I get to a good eating place, I will measure my pasta servings.

A few weeks ago, Nina told me she wants to lose some weight as well. We will be in it together and I am glad as it will actually be easier for me. To help us this week, Nina made had boiled eggs, lots of yummy meat, spinach and zucchini for me, and broccoli for her and Niko.

For the past week, I have been keeping track of what I eat and with that data, I can see what I need to cut out throughout the day. One thing I won’t do is starve myself; if my stomach says hello, I will answer it with healthy food.

When the weather gets cooler; which should be a few more weeks, I will walk outside either by myself or with Niko in the evenings. Niko can choose his feet, his plasma car, or his stroller; which we can pull from our bikes.

While I am at work, I will make it my duty to walk up and down the 3 flights of stairs in my building at least once a day. I used to do that twice a day, but I stopped last June as I preferred to read a book on my Kindle than walk. So far, I haven’t done this yet but will start tomorrow. You know something, I will add an alarm on my watch to help me get started right now; wow, that was easy. Now, I just need to fulfill it! Once I get into a routine, it will be easy for me.

One thing I won’t be doing is cutting out soda and fast food since I rarely partake in that. I can’t even remember the last time I had fast food and my last soda was on August 15th.

This upcoming week at work is Employee Appreciation Week and I know for a fact that we will be getting a lot of food. I will have to limit myself and bring the rest home for Niko. I am sure he would love to get some yummy food.

I will keep you updated on my progress.
