So, it’s been more than 3 weeks with his new bed and about 4 1/2 weeks of midnight potty training. And, both are going really well.
He hasn’t yet gotten up in the middle of the night and roamed around his room. Sometimes, after we tuck him in his bed with 3 blankets, he throws his blankets off!
Most of the time, when I wake him up at midnight for a pee and a diaper change, it takes less than 5 minutes. I am glad because I am tired at that time and really want to get back in my bed and back into dreamland. But, sometimes, he doesn’t want to be awake and cries loud; but, I know how to fix the crying and it involves a wet towel to wipe his face and he also likes to be held during that time. Eventually, he calms down and laughs at something I did or said. Finally, after 30 minutes, he wants to pee! And, sometimes, after we do our 5 minute pee and diaper change, he says he’s hungry. I don’t want to say no, so we go downstairs in the pitch black and get food and eat it upstairs in his bed. He always wants a little drink after we are done and while I am tucking him in. Again, I don’t want to say no, so I offer him a quick sip of my drink.
Niko does know how to unzip his pajamas and take his diaper off. A few days ago after he woke up from his nap, I asked him to take his diaper off and his reply was absolutely perfect; Dad, I am not wearing one and then I had to feel over his pajamas. Then, it hit me that he took it off during his nap! I just laughed and let it slide because if I make a big deal about it, he will do it again.
