Even though we have a beautiful children’s pool, we have only gotten in it a a few times; mainly, because Niko won’t wear a bathing suit. Hopefully, next summer he will wear a bathing suit and we can enjoy the pools a lot more.
To substitute a pool, I ask Niko if he wants to get sprinklerized? Is sprinklerized even a real word? It should be, because I live in Texas and it’s HOT. Basically, this means, we go in our backyard and play with the sprinkler or the garden hose; most of the time it’s both.
Niko loves doing it and takes his clothes off so quickly in preparation. Don’t laugh, but he puts his clothes in his toy kitchen microwave. For the past few days, he has gone out in his clothes, but they do eventually come off as they are wet. I always join him; although not naked, I usually wear my bathing suit or a pair of shorts. He loves getting everything wet, including me. He waters himself, me, the hammock, my football turf, his water tower toy, the back porch, the fence, the plants, the grass, the house, and the sky. I really enjoy it also as it’s refreshing and seeing how happy Niko is is priceless; he laughs and squeaks very loudly. Especially, when I squirt him!
When we are finished getting sprinklerized and back in the house, Niko squeaks again very loudly and is running at full speed up the stairs and into Nina’s office, where she is working. And, he is naked! The next stop for Niko is a shower or a bath and since he’s already naked, that saves me 30 seconds.
