Father’s Day

Posted on 06/16/201904/19/2025 by Mark

Ever since Niko was born 3 years ago, I haven’t been able to sleep in! During the week for work, I get up at 6 am and on the weekends, it is usually around 7:30 or 8 am and that depends when Niko wakes up. I let Nina get a few extra minutes of sleep on the weekends.

Yeah, I may not complain publicly, but I am tired.  I work hard at work throughout the week, I am in my car for about 2 hours every workday, I take care of all things Niko when I come home from work as Nina works when I get home, I do all the cleaning up the night before work and the morning of work in the kitchen, and I gather my food for the next workday in the evenings.  It really feels like I have less me time then in the past.

Well, today, when Niko woke up, Nina got him and I was able to sleep in till 8:30 am and gosh, it was wonderful.  I actually woke up when Niko starting barking for us around 7:30 am, but I stayed in bed!  Thanks Nina for this, I will return the favor!

We actually celebrated yesterday by eating breakfast tacos and enchiladas.  Afterwards, we went to an indoor mall that was nearby.  We really wanted to get Niko some new shoes, but he didn’t want to try anything on.  Pick your battles with a 3 year old and we just moved on.  I had him in shorts and a t-shirt, but he screamed and cried loudly.  Again, he won this round as I told him to pick out his clothes and of course, he chose pants and a long sleeve button down shirt.  Hopefully, this phase won’t last longer because it’s not fun trying to get him dressed to go out.  At the mall, I got a pretzel and it wasn’t as good as I expected it to be. I also got my 1st strawberry Jamba Juice and I didn’t care for it!  I am happy with the Kneaders strawberry or peach smoothie.  Niko got some blue smoothie from Jamba Juice and he really enjoyed his and Nina got a watermelon smoothie.  Niko says his was the best.

Today, I got homemade breakfast tacos in bed, junior mints, Reeses pieces, brownie brittle, small boxes of bad cereals, mixed nuts, Milano cookies, and lots of time with Niko and Nina!  Oh, and a beautiful card from Niko!

I think we should get rid of both Mother’s and Father’s Day because the truth is, everyday is Mothers and Father’s Day and also everyday is children’s day.

Hey, I am very glad that this weekend, I didn’t have to do anything to exert energy. During the past few weekends, I have been busy doing household stuff and even helped my brother clear his storage unit out as he is also a new homeowner!

I am extremely proud of myself  I hung shelves and that included measuring, leveling, and screwing. And, they look good and as soon as they were hung, Nina and I put stuff on them. And, they didn’t fall down. I also put together a 6 foot corner cabinet with 2 doors. And, the doors actually open and close.  After several attempts, I finally put a new stroller together for Niko. The instructions and online videos were of no help so I was basically doing it blindly. And amazingly, it works!
