Autonomy

I know I have written about this, but I am going to do it again; and I don’t care if you have already read it.

Niko’s at that age in his life where he wants to do things on his own and I allow him to do it, unless he can get hurt. I don’t hover as much as I used to with him. I simply show him how to do something and then he does it.

Ever since we moved, Niko has been taking showers in our bathroom; I think he likes it because I give him one of the shower heads to play with and I just let him have fun.  When I get in with him to help him with the shampoo, he gets a kick out of shampooing me.  Just within the past few days, I have showed him how to dry off.  He does like half his body; his hair doesn’t seem to want to get dry, and then he throws the towel on the bathroom floor and runs to see Nina.

I find it absolutely amazing seeing him do things on his own, but I miss the times when he was younger.

Hi, I am Mark. I started writing in 2011 about high school football, daddy blogging since 2015, and reviewing books since 2023. My writing style is unique, my sense of humor is a little crazy, and I’m not embarrassed to share any of it. You can email me at thedadspeaks@icloud.com.
