The first thing I do every single morning when I wake up; whether it is for work or the weekend, is I turn on the baby monitor to see what position Niko is sleeping and also to make sure he is still sleeping. The majority of the time he is sleeping on his stomach with his eyes facing the camera. A few weeks ago when I looked at him, he was on his back with his hands in the air. Sometimes, he wakes up for a second and goes back to sleep.
I am pretty sure he can hear me opening and closing our bedroom door on my workday mornings. I try to be quiet going down the stairs and that is why I wear socks; otherwise, the wooden stairs would creak! Once I am downstairs, the cat starts meowing, I clang dishes and utensils as I empty the dishwasher, I close the baby gate in the kitchen which is loud, I do my things in the bathroom so I could be presentable at work, and when I am ready to leave, I have to open and close the front door and screen door. Wow, lots of loud things!
So, when I get home from work, the first thing I do is I climb over the gate in the kitchen and put my lunch-bag on the office chair. I have to do that, because if I place it somewhere in the kitchen, Niko will grab it and run and/or throw it! The 2nd thing I do is I pee! Don’t laugh at that; I pee when I leave work at 3:30pm and I arrive home at 4:15. I know, 45 minutes, really! But, my bladder is automatically programed to pee when I get home from work. The 3rd thing I do is I kiss my wife and son which really should be the first thing I do everyday.
Sometimes as I am walking to my front door after work, I often hear a high pitch squeek in anticipation of my arrival from Niko!
