I consider Niko to be potty trained even if he still wears a diaper for nap and nighttime; hey, if you want to come over and wake him up in the middle of a nap or nighttime to get him to pee, please COME ON DOWN! Yes, I got reference from The Price Is Right and I will say it was totally not planned as I just finished an autobiography by Bob Barker. I will be sleeping in my nice comfy bed with my beautiful wife. Sleep is good for everybody and that is why we put a diaper on him, plus he is only 2 1/2 years old. When he does wake-up, one of the first things he does is he takes that diaper off by himself.
Usually when we leave the house, I make sure Niko goes pee beforehand either in the toilet or outside; he likes peeing on the grass or on the car tires. Oh my god, on New Years Eve, he peed in the toilet all by himself. It really surprised me because I wasn’t expecting it yet. He was already naked as we were getting for a bath and he just casually lifted up the toilet seat and peed! I was proud!
If I can only get him to pee in a toilet in a public place, that would be great. He likes peeing in sinks; don’t worry, I wash everything with warm soapy water. Only one time, I was able to get him to pee in a toilet and I had to hold him while he hovered the toilet seat. He also hates the noises in the public bathrooms; whether it’s the toilet flushing or the automatic hand dryers.
If we are in the car and he has to pee, he tells us and we find a safe place to pull over and he pees outside in public. Heck, sometimes, when are either arriving or leaving our destination, we ask him if needs to pee and if so, he does it right outside the car. Yes, we have had to pull over many many many many many many times for a baby pee and you know something, it’s totally acceptable because he is a baby.
Now, if I peed in public, I would be cited or arrested for indecent exposure; unless it’s at my own house where nobody can see me.
