I don’t have time to read a paperback or a hardback book anymore because I am a father to a very active and smart 2 1/2 year old who wants all the attention in the world. That is also why I am so behind in watching tv shows or movies and have no clue what is/was happening in the world of sports and politics; and, I am OK with all that. I don’t miss it and enjoy spending my time with Nina and Niko.
I do, however, have time to read eBooks from the local library for free or purchased books from Amazon.com on my Kindle Paperwhite. My Kindle is one of the best things I have purchased for msyelf in a long time and I have only had it for 5 months! Why did I wait so long to get one? Before the Kindle, I was reading on my phone and it was OK for me. But, after I read The Sleep Revolution by Arianna Huffington, I was motivated to ditch the phone book reading for a Kindle, get 8 hours of sleep every night which I am doing, and not playing on my phone right before I go to sleep.
I got a lot of reading time in at work; either in the morning before I logged in, my breaks, my lunch, and even bathroom breaks – hey, I know I am not the only one who reads while on the toilet! I used to walk on my breaks throughout our 3 buildings and go up and down the stairs, but since July, I sat at my desk and read. It’s just a different type of exercise and relaxation.
In the evenings, I read a little bit before I go to sleep. It relaxes me in the evenings and it’s much better for eyes than playing on my phone.
This year, I kept track of all the books I read (40 total). And, in the order I read them, here they all are:
