Nighttime

Posted on 08/05/201804/19/2025 by Mark

For almost a month now, I have been doing the nighttime routines with Niko; that includes bathing him, feeding him milk, water, and food, getting him dressed, bushing his teeth, and eventually after an hour after I get started with everything, I put him in the crib for nighttime.

The main reason I am doing this is we are weening him of breastmilk in the evening. He still gets it for his nap.

So, now, I will tell you that I enjoy doing it and have absolutely no complaints.  I enjoy the extra time I get to spend with him and we talk about a lot of things. It’s especially fun when in the middle of his bath, he tells he has to poo; and it happens more than you think. I have to get a wet baby out of the bath and onto the toilet and while he is pooping, I dry him off.  Sometimes, he does indeed poop and sometimes he doesn’t do anything.  When he does poop, he likes to look at it!

I read him lots of books as he requests them; right now, his favorite is Fox In Socks and Hop On Pop by Dr. Seuss.  They are always a challenge to read and he knows when I skip a page; he is a smart kid!  One of the books I read every night to Niko is a book I was read when I was a baby and that book is Goodnight Moon.
