Niko is 2 years old and it’s fun bringing him food and drink to eat; sometimes he requests something and most of the time, we can satisfy it. But, it is even more fun watching him eat with an adult fork and spoon. Man, the food gets in his hair, on his shirt, on his face, and on his shorts or pants. When he eats blueberries, cherries, or ice cream, it looks like he has a mustache on his face! When I come home from work, more than often, a plate or plates and several cups of different drinks are either on our TV stand or his little table! I can usually tell what he has eaten throughout the day because it’s on the rug or the kitchen floor; we clean constantly but as soon as we finish, another area is need of attention. Hey, he’s a baby and he likes to eat and drink and walk around the house at the same time.
For the past several weeks, he enjoys having a popsicle and he doesn’t get it all over his face as he eats it up very quickly. A few times, he puts it down on a plate; yes, we give him a plate for popsicles, and he gets distracted by something else and it melts. A few days ago, I gave him a popsicle and I also got one for myself; well, he ended up eating both of them. I did a get a few licks in; yes, we share popsicles!
When we eat dinner, one of his daily requests is cereal with Niko’s dada; hey, that is me! So, if we have bananas, I cut one up and it goes in the bowl, I get 2 big soup spoons, and we share a bowl; he mostly wants to drink it! I enjoy it because I like cereal.
Sometimes he won’t eat anything on his plate as he wants my food, which is the exact same thing most of the time; although mine is hot and his is not.
It makes me feel good when he says YUMMY!
It makes me sad when he says YUCKY!
It makes me think of what else I can give him when he says MORE FOOD.
