Conversations With A 20-Month Old

Posted on 01/21/201804/19/2025 by Mark

Even though Niko doesn’t know the legal difference between yes and no, it’s really fun for me to carry a conversation with him; mostly I just ask him questions.  Sometimes when he is upset and crying or screaming and I ask the proper questions, he stops to think about his answer because he knows what he wants.

So, here is a short list of my favorite questions:

Did you have a good nap or sleep?

Did you dream about dad?

Are you ready for a nap or sleep?

Are you hungry?

Are you OK?

Do you want to read a book?

Can you help dad cleanup your play area?

Do you have a poopy diaper?

Do you want to play with your crayons?

Do you want to play with your legos?

Do you want to eat the kitten?

Most of his answers to these questions are: Yes, No, Milk, or Momma!  Nothing about Dada!
