Tomorrow, our house will officially be listed for sale. We need more room; both for us, Niko, and Franklin.
I am very relieved that we got it ready. It looks great and a lot better than ones we have seen both online and live. It was a lot of work and for the majority of the time, only one of us can work on it since the other is with Niko. I do have to thank my parents as they came over a few times so we could both do stuff. I told Nina that when we get a contract on our house and that contract goes thru, I want a steak dinner; anywhere is fine, but I would prefer a “real steakhouse.”
So, even though our house wasn’t listed, it didn’t stop us from house shopping; we actually put offers in on 3 of them that we saw. One said no right away with no room for negotiation, one lowered the asking price by about $3,000, and the last one is actually considering our offer, but I think they are waiting for either a better offer or for house to be listed, Yes, they are all contingent on our house selling. We can’t afford 2 mortgages. You know something, for that 3rd offer and since we haven’t heard a yes or a no as of right now, I really want to tell them our offer has been rescinded! If they end up saying no, I would go back to the one where they dropped the price and try to negotiate with them; it’s still showing active.
We are looking primarily in New Braunfels, Texas. The major and only disadvantage is it will be a longer work commute for me; about 33 miles compared to 22 miles. But, I am planning on changing my work schedule to earliest as possible to avoid traffic. Now, coming home, no matter what time, it’s going to fun and long. Luckily, I got lots of podcasts to listen to. The advantages are it’s close to civilization; a major grocery store and downtown New Braunfels, which is home to a large park and a wonderful children’s museum is less than 10 minutes away. A larger shopping area with a movie theater and lots of places to eat is less than 15 minutes away; we always almost end up at that shopping area when we out and about. Yes, I am going to miss the quietness and darkness where we currently live, but at the same time, I am looking forward to living in a real neighborhood where we can maybe meet some people our age who have kids. That would be really nice. It seems we either hangout alone or we meet my parents.
We did take Niko house-shopping and if the house was empty, we let him run around; basically, he loves opening and closing doors and in an empty house, there are lots. Now, when there is furniture in the house, we don’t let him run around.
You know something, he did really good and we never had any meltdowns. Probably because we did our house shopping in the morning and were able to have him in his crib at home around noon for nap. We always packed stuff for him to eat and drink. Only one time, we weren’t going to make it home for nap, so Nina and I drove thru for food somewhere for us; we were hungry, and afterward we drove around for almost an hour so he could sleep.
