I am 40 years old, have been married to a beautiful woman for 7 years, and we have an 18-month old son. And, an old adopted old cat!
Basically, what I am trying to say is I am a responsible; most of the time, adult. So, because of that and the fact that I have lost about 25 pounds since last September, I am upgrading my wardrobe and donating a lot of my old clothes. I will admit and tell you that I am not a clothes freak. I don’t have to have the latest fashion or the most expensive pair of socks in the world. Yes, I do like nice clothes and right now, I am wearing Dockers, Hanes, Wrangler, Fruit of the Loom, Lands End, Old Navy; just same of the name brands. And of course everything in my 1st StitchFix box as styled by my wife. One of the items in that box was a pair of pants; nice tight work pants. At first, I wasn’t sure, but after I wore them to work one day, I came home and told her I wanted more of them in different colors and I can get rid of my Costco and Dockers khakis. I will schedule my 2nd box by the end of the year.
Back in August and after many many many many years of owning the same Gillette razor; yes, of course I got new blades for it, I finally threw that razor away and became a member of the Dollar Shave Club. And, so far I am very pleased with everything I have gotten.
Don’t even ask me how many shoes Nina has because I don’t know. I have a pair of flip-flops that I wear a lot throughout the house especially on the weekends, a pair of sneakers, a pair of Teva sandals, 2 pairs of work shoes, and a pair of warm slippers for winter; 6 total for me. Within the past 2 weeks, I have gotten 2 new pairs of work shoes and donated my old ones; a pair of Clarks and a pair from Lands End. I got the Lands End catalog and those shoes looked nice and comfy and didn’t have laces which was a good thing; the Clarks have laces. I like having a pair of each because I switch them every week. So, I ordered them along with a pair of flannel boxers. I have never ordered shoes online; I like to visit a shoe store and try them on and walk in them for a few minutes. When they came last week, I tried the shoes and boxers on and strutted around the house in them. They are both keepers. The Teva sandals will be replaced in the next few weeks as they are at least 10 years old and my sneakers are still comfy so I will be keeping those.
I have t-shirts and polo’s that are older than how long Nina and I have been married. Tonight, as I was gathering my clothes and new shoes for tomorrow, I looked at 6 polo shirts that were in my closet and said to Nina, “I can’t wear these untucked because they are to short.” So, without any hesitation and also since I haven’t worn them in several weeks, I took them out and threw them in a donate pile. A few weeks ago, I threw 2 t-shirts away from 2005 that had holes in fun places and a pair of sweatpants that had a hole in the crotch area. Several months ago, I had a t-shirt that had like 1,000 holes in it so I put it on and allowed my wife to tear it off of me like the incredible hulk; she enjoyed that! I have a diaper box full of t-shirts that I can’t get rid of’; some of them have vulgar sayings on them and some of them are my classics! One of the vulgar shirts has every dirty phrase that George Carlin pinned.
Some of my sleeping shorts have been discarded. I do think I need a few more pairs because last week, I inadvertently flashed my neighbors; although none of them were outside and saw me.
Now, when we go out, I want to look nice; I know my wife says I look nice no matter what I wear even if that means nothing at all! I used to wear t-shirts the majority of the time, but that changed a few months ago to polo shirts because they look better on me than a t-shirt with a dumb slogan or a sports related t-shirt.
When I am home, I prefer t-shirts and shorts and most of the time, my clothes have baby stains on them and I really don’t care.
