High School Football 2017

Posted on 08/19/201711/04/2025 by Mark

You may have noticed that I haven’t had any content since January and I have a great reason.  I have a 15 month old baby at home and have been writing a lot about being a first time dad on www.thedadspeaks.com.

I did manage to redesign www.thestatmanspeaks.com and I would appreciate your comments; good or bad.  You can email me at thestatmanspeaks@gmail.com.

Let’s get back to the primary reason on this article and that is HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL.

I am not sure on whether or not I will back with the St. Anthony football team this season. I know they want me back, but they have had some changes in the Administration and ultimately, they are the decision makers.  I am trying to be patient with them but at the same time, I am very  persistent with them.  In one of my many emails, I told them I am eager to know! Wouldn’t you be?

Even if St. Anthony says no, I am not ready to retire; although I did contemplate that. I haven’t decided if I will write for somebody else or for myself; although I am leaning toward writing for myself.  Does anybody want to help me come up with a logo for a media pass?  I really enjoy what I do and my style of writing is definitely one of a kind.  I also love seeing my photos being shared by the athletes. I have the power to get more intimate photos than there parents; mainly since I have field access during the games.  I actually prefer the field than the press box. Last April, I purchased a Timbuktu laptop messenger bag thinking that I could use it throughout the season; both as a tv statistician and as a freelance writer and photographer.  I retired in August as a statistician and that same month, I started covering St. Anthony football games and for those games, all I brought with me was my camera.  So, basically, what I am trying to say is I haven’t had a chance to use that laptop bag.

I will cover other games and those games will likely be chosen on a weekly basis. I am not planning on covering big time schools like Judson or Steele, because they get enough coverage.

I will definitely get one St. Anthony and a Holy Cross game in my schedule.  Why Holy Cross? Well, the Principal at Holy Cross was the Principal at St. Anthony and he is the one who brought me on last year; with pay, to cover the St. Anthony football team.  It’s my way of saying thanks.

So, as soon as I know, you will know.  Oh, no matter what, my 1st game won’t be until Week 2; my wife’s birthday is during opening week and I promised her no games.

Hope you make it back St. A’s. Enjoyed having you and loved how you reported the facts. And, if by unique you mean keeping the interest of the KIDS at heart, I would definitely agree.

Hi, I am Mark. I started writing in 2011 about high school football, daddy blogging since 2015, and reviewing books since 2023. My writing style is unique, my sense of humor is a little crazy, and I’m not embarrassed to share any of it. You can email me at thedadspeaks@icloud.com.
