On Saturday, I took Niko for a very early morning walk. I left Nina at home and I am glad as she got some much needed sleeping in time and alone time.
It was my 1st time taking him out without any other adult supervision. The night before, Nina and I packed his breakfast, put the jogging stroller in the car, put his shoes and a bib on the counter next to the car keys, and made sure to have some extra clothes just in case I needed them.
I did meet my parents for breakfast afterwards and was very glad to have the chance to pee (I don’t use portable toilets) and eat some bacon and egg breakfast tacos as I was starving (Niko and I shared a banana and an orange at the walk).
I was walking with my co-workers from JPMorgan Chase Bank to support premature babies, birth defects, and infant mortality. Also, by my participation, I got money in my Medical Reimbursement Account (which I really needed). I will get more money next month when I get my annual exam. I am not at all embarrassed and don’t mind them checking my body, taking my blood, and asking me silly medical questions. And, something I have to get done now since I am 40 years old and my father had Prostate cancer is getting my PSA blood levels checked. Thanks Dad. Tomorrow, at work, I am scheduled for a blood pressure coaching session (yes, that will also get me money in the MRA account).
Back to Saturday…
Unlike the previous Saturday, Niko slept in the car on the way down. Probably because I left as soon he was done having breastmilk at 6:30am and he was still sleepy. He had no clue what was happening or where he was going. But, when we arrived, he was very distracted by the people (and babies), but overall, he did wonderful and we had no meltdowns.
Niko and I were toward the starting line, so it was a traffic jam for about 5 minutes and then I found an opening for us. I was going to do the 5K, but at the last minute, I chose the stroller route which was obviously shorter…much shorter! When we finished, I was surprised because the ending line (which was also the starting line) area was empty. I didn’t have to stay for anything afterwards, so I freed Niko from the stroller and carried him to the car (while pushing an empty stroller).
On the drive home after we had breakfast, he took an hour nap. Waiting at home for us (mainly for Niko) was a very happy wife who missed her boys!
