On Saturday, we took Niko to the San Antonio zoo to see my parents. I am not at all implying that my mom and dad are animals (well, maybe a little bit)!
Even though I have lived in San Antonio for my entire life, I haven’t been to the zoo in quite a long time. I remember I had a birthday party there (when I was a young child) and a bird crapped on my head. My poor mama had to wash it in in the woman’s restroom…yep, a fond memory.
Normally, when we have someplace to be with Niko, we plan accordingly and allow him to take his 1st nap in the car. That way, we have about 3 hours to have fun.
Well, on Saturday, we switched it up and left our house an hour after we woke up around 9am. We wanted to arrive at the zoo early to avoid the crowds and the heat. We were really thinking he would sleep in the car, but that didn’t happen.
He wasn’t cranky when we arrived at the zoo and was very interested in everything from the animals to the people to the kids and back to the animals. The zoo is a great place to observe how other parents treat their children in public and how many of them are named Aiden! About 90 minutes after we arrived, he was ready to be done and we could just tell by the way he was acting (we are his parents).
It was fun for Nina and I as we held him, put him in the stroller, and let him walk a little bit (with his new shoes). I know my parents had a great time because as long as they get Niko time, they are happy.
I definitely want to go to the zoo again, but will do so when it’s cooler outside and we will leave later so we he will nap on the drive down.
