The Dad’s 40th Birthday

Posted on 04/26/201704/19/2025 by Mark

On Sunday, I turned 40 years old and where the heck did that white hair come from?

I spent Friday with my wife and son eating steak and shopping and on Saturday, I had Chinese food with my family.  Nina suggested to me that I should showcase my family to the world by going live because we have a lot of fun and are very loud.  On the day of my birthday, I was very happy to stay home and baby wrangle while Nina cooked and worked and where the heck did the mole come from?  On Monday, I had seafood, breakfast tacos for the following morning, a cheeseburger and fries, and we did some more shopping. Nina thinks it was funny that I got food at 9 different places!!!

I did have a few drinks (Dr. Pepper and Root Beer) and after not having one since September 10th of last year, they were good, but not good enough to keep on drinking them.

I am not big on shopping and am actually easy when it comes to buying new clothes because I know what I want.  So, I purchased a Land End jacket, blue jeans, cargo shorts, shorts to hang out in at home, and polo shirts.  I did try on some khaki pants, but didn’t like them.  Next time, I am in the same vicinity as a Costco, I will get my same old Khaki’s I have now.

I got cards, checks, Amazon gift cards, and even a home-made cake from my wife who also got me (or us) a hammock.  I didn’t get anything that said, “OVER THE HILL.”  I love getting Amazon money because they have everything.  In my wish list and soon to be check-out cart is a wallet, a battery for my camera, flip flops, a wireless mouse, a 2nd power supply for my laptop (so I can have 1 downstairs and 1 upstairs), a sunshade for my car, and an e-book.  And, I will have money left for future purchases.

Everything I had planned (even if it was several weeks in advance) went absolutely perfect.  Niko did awesome as he took his naps in the car and got fed lots of good food and got to see lots of people.

The only thing I really wanted to do was take a nap and I tried twice with the baby and both were failures!  He was excited and wanted to play rather than nap with his dad.
