Yesterday (10/10), Nina and I celebrated 6 years of marriage and we didn’t do anything spectacular or even leave the house. It was actually a very pleasant day at home in our pajamas and we enjoyed each other and of course Niko (and, I can’t forget the loudest thing and the thing that gets the most sleep out of all us — Franklin cat).
Nina’s gift to me (and her) was a babysitter for 4 hours on Sunday. And, not just a babysitter we found on Craigslist or the teenager next door, it was one of the nurses from the hospital from when Niko was born. She showed us how to change a diaper, bathe him, and pick him up properly (because we had no clue about anything). She even held and rocked a crying baby (while playing jazz music) so Nina and I could get some sleep.
It was really weird leaving the house without Niko and all of his supplies and yes, we did miss him, but we also enjoyed our time alone. I wasn’t at all concerned because I knew he was in good hands!!!
So, what did mom and do? Well, I will say we didn’t do anything fancy. We went to the bank, had a late lunch at Longhorn Steakhouse (yes, I like a steak as much as any guy I know), and we purchased some baby clothes. On Saturday, Nina placed an order at our local grocery store to be picked-up curbside on Sunday which we did on the way home. It saved us a lot of time and because of how easy and quick it was, Nina and the baby will take full advantage of that in the future.
We are already planning on getting the babysitter again when I am off in November and December.
