On Friday, Niko celebrated his 4 month birthday (it was also my wife’s birthday but since this is thedadspeaks.com and not the thehusbandspeaks.com, I won’t tell anything about what I got wife for her birthday). Ok, I will tell you…I got her a bean bag chair so she can be comfy when she plays with the baby on the floor (I will also use it), an Amy Shumer book (which I will read also), and 3 birthday cards (one from Niko and a serious and a funny from me). We also got Nina new eyeglasses and some bakery items from Naegelin’s in New Braunfels.
Niko had a very fun day that started with some shots at the pediatricians office. Yes, he cried because he got poked with a needle in both legs and he didn’t know what was about to happen. Later, when he can communicate with us and understand things, we can prepare him for this kind of stuff. He got Spiderman Band-Aids and I got nothing!! When I was a baby, my pediatricians office gave me a lollipop.
He is growing so fast (not my pediatrician, but Niko) that just within the past week, we have dived into the 9 and 12 month sizes. The mommy milk is doing a great job!!!
In the next few weeks, we will start the real food experiment — Niko’s pediatrician and nurse each gave a us a nice lecture on it as well as a print-out. I can’t wait to see his faces when he eats!!!
We got a check payable to Niko from his great Aunt and Uncle and even though we already have a college account set-up for him, I wanted to open up a new account at our credit union. I thought it was going to be a custodian account, but they opened it as a joint account with all 3 of us as owners. Sweet, I can take the money and run to Monte Carlo!! By opening it with our credit union, it will allow Nina and I to very easily transfer money from our accounts to his. When I get back to work tomorrow, I will adjust my paycheck so a little bit will go into his account. Right now, Niko has more money than mom and dad!!!
