My Dad and I are one week apart and ever since I became a mature adult last year, we have celebrated together and I actually really enjoy it. I will also tell you we share a lot of physical characteristics!!
Last week, Nina had a 4D image of the baby and when she showed me the pictures, she told me we have the same nose and my co-workers agreed about the nose. So, I will have a Mini Mark — how cool is that. I just want him to have a small amount of Nina’s characteristics, because she is very cute!!! I really like her!!!
This year, because of bad weather, my Dad and I won’t be celebrating jointly, but they will be coming over to our house on my birthday to drop off leftovers from Passover dinner the night before because we won’t be there. Why is this night different from any other night? Yes, I had to get a Passover reference in (look it up on Google). Well, under normal circumstances, I would be the first to arrive to start the eating — but, this year, Nina is pregnant and although we are not expecting anything to happen Friday night (like a baby being delivered), I want to be home with my wife. My Mom is also bringing me bagels and tuna fish.
My birthday celebration started on Tuesday at work as one of my co-workers made me a chocolate cake with M and M’s on top and Kit Kat’s layered on the edge. It was very yummy.
Oh, this week at work we have been celebrating Fiesta with food and drinks up the wazoo!!! If you don’t live in San Antonio, I will attempt to explain Fiesta in 140 characters or less (that would be a Twitter reference). It is a party atmosphere Downtown for 2 weeks with parades, music, carnival food, alcohol, and public intoxication. Schools even are closed. How is that — exactly 140 characters!! Yes, when I was younger, my birthday always coincided with the parades and a day off from school. But, I never got to enjoy the festivities because the Jewish youth group I was in set-up chairs and took them down — it was a fundraiser. When I got my drivers license at age 16, I had to be Downtown to work but my smart parents didn’t want me driving Downtown and I didn’t blame them one bit. They know what was best.
Basically, what I am trying to say is since it is my birthday week, I am eating and drinking whatever I want and I am truly enjoying everything from cake to Dr. Pepper to gingerbread men. I am already planning my meals for Friday — breakfast tacos in the morning and Chinese food for dinner. Saturday, it will be cake, leftovers from Passover dinner, and a really good cheeseburger for lunch. I have to get a nap in sometime and I will make sure that happens on Saturday and Sunday. Hey, it may be the last naps with peace and quiet for a little while.
And, after my birthday concludes, I want to drop a few pounds. I am a procrastinator so I always put it off but, I think once the baby arrives and the fact that I will be home for about 4 weeks, it will be easy for me to start.
