I was disappointed that UTSA only signed 2 players from San Antonio…Peyton Hall from the Brandeis Broncos and Darryl Godfrey from the O’Connor Panthers. Last season, Hall had 56 receptions for 1,293 yards and 10 touchdowns and Godfrey had 5 interceptions. They are both extremely talented and I am looking forward to them doing a lot of damage for UTSA.
Since I have a lot of Judson Rocket and Steele Knight fans reading my High School Football blogs (thank you), let’s take a look at some of their players and where they will be playing:
JUDSON ROCKETS
Michael Akai, Penn

Delmarcus Dokes, West Texas A&M
Akai was the leading receiver for the Rockets last season with 63 receptions for 1,073 yards and 4 touchdowns. He has speed and speed kills!!! Abdul and Nick played on the offensive line and they were a huge (no pun intended as Abdul is 285 pounds and Nick is 235 pounds) reason why the Rockets had a great season.
Kevion missed his senior year of football to due to an injury and a lot of the media folks were picking him as the defensive MVP for the district last season. A healthy Kevion can easily become one of the top defensive players for West Texas A&M. Before he was on the varsity football team, he would often hang out with Bobby Stautzenberger and I in the press-box!!!

All these players except LG and Jaylen are defensive players…yeah, Steele was one of the best defensive teams all season long. They had 4 shut-outs…Madison, Laredo United South, Clemens, and New Braunfels Canyon.
In my High School Football Wrap-Up BLOG Part II, I talked a lot about LG Williams and his marvelous career at Steele. In a quick nutshell, LG had 5,352 total yards with 62 touchdowns as the starting quarterback. Texas State University is getting a really great player.
Jaylen Harris had 49 receptions for 889 yards and 8 touchdowns as a wide receiver last season but in Week 13, when Steele played Brennan (number 1 VS number 2), he was by far the fastest player on the field…he had 3 carries for 103 yards and 2 touchdowns and 4 receptions for 60 yards. The 2nd play of the game was a 61 yard run by Jaylen.

Teddy Britton was a defensive star on the Stevens Falcons and I have a feeling that he will be one of top defensive players for Stephen F. Austin sooner then you think. Tyrek Allen, his Stevens teammate, had 30 total touchdowns as a 3 year starter…he can do it on the ground and as a receiver.
Nick Smisek, had 3,057 total rushing yards as a 3 year starter with 38 touchdowns. Nick is a coach’s son (his dad is the head basketball at St. Anthony) and I have said this numerous times before but coach’s son are all smart players and know how to play the game. Air Force got a great kid and I know he will thrive for the Falcons.
In my High School Football Wrap-Up BLOG Part II, I also talked a lot about Da’Shawn Key. He was a 4 year starter at quarterback for the Brennan Bears and is definitely the main reason why the Bears have been so successful during Key’s reign. His numbers are mind-boggling and extremely impressive…8,816 total yards with 117 total touchdowns. I heard a rumor that he may not be a quarterback at Incarnate Word but I know whatever position he ends up playing, he will be very successful. I am going to miss seeing him play, but am very glad he is staying home in San Antonio.
The players I am going to try to keep an eye on college are: Kevion Ramsey, Jaylen Harris, LG Williams, Da’Shawn Key, and Nick Smisek.
